Kryptex is a virus?

24. helmikuuta 2019 kello 22.33

No! Kryptex is not a virus!

Kryptex.exe was blocked, or similar alerts from antivirus software should not mislead you.

Many viruses silently mine cryptocurrency without the user's permission. That is why most antivirus programs block miners by default. Windows Defender has this aggressive security policy, too.

We are at Kryptex against silent mining! Kryptex works only when you allow it to!

You should turn off the blocking of potentially unwanted applications (PUA) and restore the files deleted by the antivirus.

PUA is a software category, such as miners, that can decrease computer performance. Most often, upon detection, antiviruses mark Kryptex as "Not-A-Virus" or "Potentially Unwanted Software (PUA)" They prefer to play it safe and expect your manual action: whether you'll block or allow the app to run. You can best assess whether to trust and use a "potentially unwanted" application. So, you can disable this blocking.

Disable PUA protection in the Windows settings:

  1. Go to settings and search for “App & browser control"

    Search

  2. In the opened window, click “Reputation-based protection”;

    Protection settings

  3. Turn off “Potentially unwanted app blocking.”

    Disable PUA

If Kryptex says kryptex#.exe is missing, reinstall the app to restore missing files.

Add Kryptex files to the antivirus exclusion list

Do not add the whole folder to the exclusion list, but add only necessary files. The antivirus does not check folders with exclusions — this is dangerous!

Here is the full list of Kryptex files that we recommend to add to the antivirus exclusion:

  • C:\Program Files\Kryptex\Kryptex.exe
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners.7z
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners\kryptex_gminer\kryptex_gminer.exe
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners\kryptex_lolMiner\kryptex_lolMiner.exe
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners\kryptex_rigel\kryptex_rigel.exe
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners\kryptex_SRBMiner-MULTI\kryptex_SRBMiner-MULTI.exe
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners\kryptex_teamredminer\kryptex_teamredminer.exe
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kryptex\miners\kryptex_xmrig\kryptex_xmrig.exe

<username> — replace with your Windows user name.

It's a beautiful lie 🎶

Nope, we've got a digital signature

The safety and security of Kryptex were validated by a third-parties. The only safe place to download a signed file is from our website 👈. The signature must look like this:

Digital signature

Fake Kryptex instances will lack those signatures. So if you have downloaded an installer signed differently or unsigned at all, please, contact us and let us know where you got the malicious file. We fight the impostors as our life depends on them.

Check out the VirusTotal

VirusTotal checks hundreds of files each minute using signatures of more than 60 antiviruses simultaneously. Here's the summary of the Kryptex scan. Everything is clear, 56 out of 66 antiviruses marked our app as safe. Other 10 marked it as a "CoinMiner" which it is! 😋
